The area is great for fishing, swimming, boating, and all other water sports. At the northern end of the beach the Blowhole can be a great attractions on the rare heavy southern swell days.

Blackmans Bay is part of Kingborough, the fastest growing municipality in Tasmania and on the beach-front there are only twenty-eight houses.
